A Liquid crystal display (LCD) is a flat display  that uses the light modulating properties of liquid display.They are common in consumer devices such as video players, gaming devices, clocks,telephones,computers,calculators etc.

 

A (16x2) LCD panel consists of 16 coulums and 2 rows.It can show upto 16 characters in 2 lines.

I was trying to integrate this display with my arduino uno. But nothing is visible in the LCD screen. I have used http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/LiquidCrystal connection diagram. How can I check that the LCD itself is okey?

Make sure u have used the right variable resistor and tune the variable resistor until u get the texts on the display

My problem is solved by connecting pin 2 to GND. I think there was some problem in POT.

Is this display  compatible with Hitachi HD44780 driver .i.e. Compatible with arduino LCD display library ? What is the backlight colour ?

This just like any normal LCD. This is compatible with arduino library. Backlight colour is blue.

This display has no connector. 16 pin male header must be soldered. Then breadboard jumpers should be used to connect the pins with Microcontroller.

Sorry. Coding is totally user's concern. We have many tutorials using both LCD and Sonar sensor but we did not do any tutorial exactly on what you said. Google it, we are sure you will find many.

VEE পিনে ভ্যারিয়েবল পট লাগিয়েছেন কিনা চেক করুন। ওটা ভ্যারি করিয়ে ক্যারেক্টার শো করাতে হয়। LED+ ,LED- পিনগুলোকেও VCC আর গ্রাউন্ডের সাথে কানেক্ট করতে হবে। সব কানেকশন এবং কোড ঠিক থাকলে লেখা না দেখানোর কারণ নাই।

I have bought two of these lcds and the qualities of the products were not conforming to the prior ones i.e. poor pcb edges. I hope you will look into this matter.

আমি ভ্যারিয়েবল পট লাগিয়ে ডিসপ্লে ভ্যারি করতে পারতেছি কিন্তু কোনো ক্যারেক্টার শো করতেসে না । শুধু কিছু চারকোণা বক্স আসতেছে । কি করব একটু হেল্প করুন

Dear, at first make sure that, you have made a proper connection and your program is correct.
LCD_Pin_1 _VSS >> GND
LCD_Pin_2_VDD >> +5V
LCD_Pin_3_Vo >> GND with 3K resistor (Or Use 10K variable resistor)
LCD_Pin_4_RS >> From Micro-Controller
LCD_Pin_5_R/W >> GND
LCD_Pin_6_E >> From Micro-Controller
LCD_Pin_11_DB4 >> From Micro-Controller
LCD_Pin_12_DB5 >> From Micro-Controller
LCD_Pin_13_DB6 >> From Micro-Controller
LCD_Pin_14_DB7 >> From Micro-Controller
LCD_Pin_14_LED+ >> +5V with 150 ohm resistor
LCD_Pin_14_LED- >> GND
However if you have any problem, then please inform us.

This is just an ordinary 16x2 LCD. Soldering a 16 pin male connector with it will be enough for using it.
